Our commitment
Accessibility
Everyone should be able to find what they need on our site — including farmers using a phone in the field and neighbors who rely on assistive technology.
NRICD is committed to making nricd.org accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or the device someone is using. We build and maintain this site to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard recommended for public-serving organizations.
What we do
- Every page uses proper landmarks, headings, and a skip-to-content link.
- Color contrast meets AA on text, buttons, and links — in light and dark themes.
- All images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- The whole site works with a keyboard alone and with screen-reader software.
- Forms have visible labels, clear error messages, and large touch targets.
- The interactive land-access map ships with a text-list and data-table alternative.
- Automated accessibility, performance, and SEO audits run on every change — see our compliance dashboard.
A “dark mode” for comfort
Some visitors read more comfortably on a dark background — including people with light sensitivity or low vision. The site respects your device’s light/dark preference and meets AA contrast in both.
